The practice for Ghana is that after primary and junior high school, pupils will write one national examination so that they can progress to secondary school.

So why this new test for primary 4 pupils?

Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei-Adutwum explained that this test will remove the 11 years waiting period for pupils before they can sit for Basic Education Certificate Exams (BECE).

The Education Ministry said countries like Singapore already have introduced national standardised tests which help build their educational system.

Because of this, we hope that this will go in a long way to help the country build a solid educational system.

This test according to government will not just improve on learning outcomes of students but also will reduce the issue of learning poverty for Ghana.
