2020 WASSCE outcomes: High quality not compromised by Free SHS – VP

The Vice-President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has stated regardless of the unfavourable feedback from some Ghanaians that Free SHS would compromise the standard of training, 2020 WASSCE outcomes have shamed the critics.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia talking on the closing session of the Nationwide Chief Imam’s annual Ramadan lectures (Tafsir) in Accra stated the Akufo-Addo led authorities is dedicated to selling high quality training.

He attributed the wonderful efficiency of the primary beneficiaries of the Free SHS also referred to as Akufo-Addo graduates who sat for the instant previous WASSCE for College to the standard of the Free Senior Excessive College program.

“When the Akufo-Addo authorities launched the Free SHS coverage, some folks opposed it and stated high quality training could be compromised”

“However the 2020 WASSCE outcomes present that if something, the Free Senior Excessive College (Free SHS) has improved the standard of training in Ghana,” the Vice President stated on the ceremony.

He continued that “WAEC with nations like Sierra Leone, Gambia, Nigeria, Ghana; the outcomes present that of the entire variety of college students who took the examination, there was a complete variety of 465 who received A in all their 8 topics”. 

“Of the 465 in all these nations, 411 got here from Ghana,” he said. 

“Nigeria introduced 70% of the entire candidates who sat for the 2020 WASSCE, however 411 Ghana claimed 8As and 54 Nigerian college students received 8As,”
